ICW WORLD CAMPAIGN

Mankind survival depends on our ability to ensure World Peace.
LETTER TO THE UNITED NATIONS
SECRETARY - GENERAL
His Excellency Ban Ki-Moon
We, the Women and Men of all ages, Creeds, Races, Ideologies and of the most diverse thoughts, citizens inhabitants of countries in the five continents who are concerned about the advance of the AIDS pandemic on Mankind, address to you in this letter, promoted by the International Community of Women Living with VIH/AIDS (ICW), to request that, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Declaration on AIDS of the United Nations (UNGASS) sanctioned on the 27th of June 2001, you see fit to declare from the UN “2011, Year of Peace as a Chance to Stop AIDS”.
We are deeply convinced that Mankind survival depends on our ability to ensure World Peace. Therefore, we echoed Don Nelson Mandela’s demand during the AIDS Conference in Bangkok 2004, when he warned the world with his strong statements on the immediate response that world leaders owe to the fight against AIDS, in order to try to avoid the extinction of human race as a result of the pandemic.
At ICW we decided to gather our efforts together, in order to collaborate with Mandela in his commitment against the violence and threat of extinction of the Human Species that AIDS poses.
It is for all the aforementioned reasons, Mr. General-Secretary, that in order to improve the global social response to the AIDS pandemic, it becomes essential that we, all the peoples of the world together, search for other ways not yet explored the commitment for a Lasting Peace that will counteract the devastating action of this pandemic.
Petition
We request that, in commemoration of the signature of the UNGASS Declaration, you declare the 27th of June of every year as the “International Day of Peace as a Chance to Stop AIDS” and 2011 as the “Year of Peace as a Chance to Stop AIDS”
Thank you for your attention to this most serious matter.
Sincerely,
